Chart Watch: Week Ending May 21st

In this recurring feature, we’ll be highlighting the latest chart moves from popular acts on Billboard via Nielsen Soundscan.

ALBUMS

Debuting at No. 1 is J. Cole‘s The Off-Season with 282,000 units. It’s his sixth No. 1 album, and the second-biggest debut of the year after Taylor Swift’s rerecording of Fearless, which debuted with 291,000. It does, however, score the biggest streaming week of the year thus far.

Nicki Minaj‘s Beam Me Up Scotty, her previously unreleased 2009 debut mixtape, launches at No. 2 with 80,000 units.

Dua Lipa‘s Future Nostalgia holds at No. 5 with 41,000 album-equivalent units, though its physical sales vaulted 261% following the vinyl release of the Moonlight edition.

Justin Bieber‘s Justice falls No. 4 to No. 7 with 34,000 units. It will cross 1M SPS next week.

Just outside the Top 10, St. Vincent‘s Daddy’s Home debuts at No. 16 with approximately 24,000 units and 20,000 pure sales. Her previous studio album, MASSEDUCTION, started at No. 10 with 29,000 album-equivalent units.

Ariana Grande‘s Positions slips No. 18 to No. 23 adding another 20,000 SPS, while thank u, next moves No. 127 to No. 121 with 9,000.

Billboard 200 main staple Taylor Swift has five albums on the chart this week, down one from last week as reputation departs. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) drops No. 19 to No. 35 with 17,000 SPS, while folklore likewise drops No. 40 to No. 43 with 15,000 SPS. Interestingly, Swift’s 2019 album Lover leapfrogs her most recent album, evermore, this week. Lover was up 16% this week and vaults No. 82 to No. 58 with a little over 12,000 SPS, while evermore slides No. 51 to No. 61 with about 250 less SPS than ‘Lover,’ down 8%. 1989 moves No. 103 to No. 101 as well, it’s about a month away from crossing 10M total activity (apt for a release celebration perhaps?).

Billie Eilish‘s blockbuster debut album When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go? drops No. 30 to No. 37 with 17,000 SPS this week, while her Don’t Smile At Me EP drops No. 66 to No. 77 with 11,000.

Phoebe Bridgerscopycat killer, reimagined versions of songs from her studio album Punisher, debuts at No. 113 following its physical release with 9,000 SPS.

Arlo ParksCollapsed in Sunbeams crosses 10,000 pure sales this week.

DJ Khaled‘s KHALED KHALED crosses 500,000 SPS this week.

SINGLES

Olivia Rodrigo‘s “good 4 u” debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 5 on Hot Digital Songs with 12,000 downloads sold. “drivers license” and “deja vu” increase as a result, going up 60% and 50% respectively.

Dua Lipa‘s “Levitating,” which was stripped of 5,000 copies from its weekly total after hours last week, drops No. 4 from No. 1 down 22%. Its new lifetime download total is 266,000.

The Voice alumnus Jake Hoot‘s “I Would’ve Loved You” feat. Kelly Clarkson debuts at No. 22 with 5,000 downloads, up from a negligible amount last week following their live performance on The Voice. The track is now up to 13,000 total.

Katy Perry‘s “Electric” debuts at No. 25 with a little over 4,000. That 25 is fitting, given that the song is for the 25th anniversary of Pokémon.

Holding at No. 34 with another 3,000 downloads, Hoobastank‘s The Reason crosses 2,300,000 downloads this week.

“Best I Ever Had” by Drake was up 824% this week, its lifetime tally is 2,875,000.

“7 Years” by Lukas Graham crosses 2,500,000 downloads this week.

BTS‘ “Euphoria” was up 312% this week. Its lifetime tally is 58,000.

Next week, expect a big debut from BTS as well as Olivia Rodrigo, whose debut album SOUR is expected to move a quarter of a million SPS. Twenty One Pilots also returns, and there will be surges on the charts from the Billboard Music Awards.
